EXCHANGE CREATES LIFE

International voluntary organisation

ABOUT US

We are a voluntary organisation and a non-profit international cooperation agency.

We provide new educational and personal development opportunities for young people, offering them a chance to escape poverty (both economic and human) and broaden their horizons for the future.

WHERE DO WE STAND

In the summer of 2023, we hosted three boys and three girls from the Coredi boarding schools in Medellin at our oratories in Milan. Thanks to our collaboration with the Gentilino, LaRiva and San Cipriano oratories, they were able to enjoy the oratory experience over the summer.

Then, we took three boys and six girls from the Milanese oratories to the Coredi colleges. There, they experienced the Colombian joy of life and cheerfulness first-hand, and learn about a different culture. They also spent several days on missions in one of the villages most affected by guerrilla warfare in recent years. They welcomed the most vulnerable people, and met the bishop and local authorities. These initiatives led to encounters with and knowledge of the different realities in the area, as well as the establishment of new and sincere friendships.

From September 2023 to February 2024, one of our educators travelled to Medellin to coordinate and support the 23 newly established oratories in the Antioquia region of Colombia.

The Sendas Academy, a post-diploma discernment programme, was founded in February 2024 and welcomed its first six girls. Here, the girls were introduced to various manual activities and lessons in pedagogy and psychology by one of our educators, while continuing the volunteer activities that began last summer.

Several events marked the following months:

on 16 April, we celebrated our first anniversary with a charity dinner at the Mitù restaurant in Milan;
we participated in the “Fa” la cosa giusta' volunteer fair at Fiera Milano City and the "Students for Humanity - Volunteering Desk" event organised by Bocconi University in Milan;
we took part in the Milan Archdiocese Seminary Festival, where we had the opportunity to present our proposal to the Archbishop of Milan, His Excellency Rev. Mons. Mario Delpini.

All these activities were all useful for raising awareness of our organisation and learning about other organisations in the volunteering sector.

This year, we started to create a network beginning in Italy with the help of the Gentilino, LaRiva, and San Cipriano oratories, and the associations DifendiAmo, ASD Gentilino, and ASD Juvenilia. It then passes through Colombia with the help of the Coredi Marinilla, Coredi Rionegro and Coredi El Peñol colleges, the Diocese of Sonson-Rionegro, the Santa Ana Granada Parish and the Amigos del Mar Association. Finally it reaches Brazil with the support of the Savipa association in the city of Caxias do Sul.

Thanks to this educational network, Sendas has become a founder and collaborator in the management of 31 oratories worldwide.
